My name is Paul Schmeidler, I am in my final year of Graduate school at Fort Hays State University working to complete my Masters of Social Work. I am working with Christy Kaufman, LMSW for my Masters of Social Work rotation. I have experience with many different stages and circumstances for people of all ages and demographics. I started out as a care attendant while working at a pharmacy. I switched to a case management position for people with disabilities. After achieving my LBSW, I was employed for the State of Kansas as a Child Protective Specialist. I am currently employed at EmberHope as a Foster Care Worker.

Where are you from?
Hays, Kansas.

Why did you come to Plainville?
Post Rock Family Medicine paved the way for walk-in clinics and they have an exceptional reputation of providing people in rural Northwest Kansas communities another valuable option for medical services and expertise.

What do you hope to be when you are out of school?
After the MSW program and passing my LMSW licensure exam, I plan to continue striving to complete 3000 hours of clinical psychotherapy. After this is achieved, I can open my own practice and provide people with a holistic therapeutic experience, especially focusing on spirituality.

What do you like about shadowing in Plainville?
Post Rock Family Medicine offers a wide variety of services to increase my skills, knowledge and competency.

What do you like to do outside of medicine?
Outside of my school and employment duties, I am very close to my family. I enjoy watching movies, playing board games, going fishing, recreational shooting and preserving antique religious art. I also have a 1 year old, 70 lb, golden doodle named Frank.

What do you hope to learn from your rotation in Plainville?
At Post Rock Family Medicine, they have bridged the gap between mental health services and medical healthcare through their Annual Wellness Visits and Chronic Care Management. I hope to use my experiences with these services to provide valuable feedback and advance my own career.
