The winter season is upon us! Here are a few tips to keep children warm while play outside.

  • Dress in layers
  • Bring children indoors if they are wet
  • Use sunscreen. Sunburns can happen, even in the winter time.
  • Provide the appropriate equipment for outdoor winter activities
  • Keep them hydrated. Warm drinks and soup are a great option!
  • Watch for signs of frostbite. Common signs: Pale, grey, or blistered skin on the ears, nose, toes or fingers. If you suspect frostbite, bring the child indoors and put the affected area in warm, not hot, water.
  • Watch for signs of hypothermia. Symptoms of hypothermia: Slurred speech, clumsiness, confusion and slow or shallow breathing. If your child exhibits any of these signs call our office with any questions!

Winter time activities are great fun for children of all ages! These are great tips to keep everyone safe and warm! Happy sledding!
