Post Rock Family Medicine Welcomes Alexandra Thomas

March 10, 2016 | Students | By: Naomi Wyatt

My name is Ali Thomas and I am working with Emily Decker for the next six weeks. I will also be spending time in other areas of the hospital such as the OR and PT.

Where are you from?
I am from all over! I was a military brat and now I am a military wife. Most recently I lived in Florida, but I have been in Wichita for a few years. The military is moving my family to Nebraska this summer!

Why did you come to Plainville?
I am on a Family Medicine rotation for PA school. I will be graduating in July!

What do you hope to be when you’re out of school? Why?
I want to work in pediatric medicine once I am done with school. I love kiddos and feel like it is super important to educate both children and parents. I especially enjoy the emergency department due to the fast pace and quick thinking that is required. I do not have any kiddos of my own yet, so it is also a way to get free snuggles!

What do you like about shadowing in Plainville?
I love how kind and welcoming the staff has been. Every day I am greeted with smiles and happiness when I get to work. I enjoy the laid back environment as well.

What do you like to do outside of medicine?
I enjoy hanging out with my puppy, reading, and exploring new places. I love to travel to new places. I am looking forward to going to Denver while I am here in Plainville. My favorite place I have been is New Orleans.

What do you hope to learn from your rotation in Plainville?
I hope to learn more about managing chronic conditions and what it is like working in a small town. I am learning so much about farm life and Emily is enjoying educating me on the things I have missed out on living in the city!
