My name is Kalee Kirmer and I am a 4th year medical student at KU School of Medicine, Wichita. I am currently on my rural Family Medicine rotation following Dr. Lynn Fisher.

Where are you from?
I am originally from Hays.

Why did you come to Plainville?
I wanted to come to RCHC because I have heard wonderful things about the people and the experience here. I also wanted to have the opportunity to come back for a rotation that was close to home.

What do you hope to be when you’re out of school? Why?
I want to be a Family physician when I am done with school. Family medicine offers the ability to practice a full spectrum of medicine. I also enjoy the relationships you can build with your patients and their families.

What do you like about shadowing in Plainville?
I like how welcome I have felt at Rooks County Health Center so far. The staff and community have been great to work with. I really enjoy the opportunity to experience both the clinic and hospital settings in a critical access area.

What do you like to do outside of medicine?
Outside of medicine I like to spend time with my family and friends. I really enjoy being outside, bike riding, and baking.

What do you hope to learn from your rotation in Plainville?
I hope to learn what it is like to practice medicine in a rural area and to learn more about the communities in the area.
